Give Peas a Chance

We’re giving Asparagus Peas a chance this year, although I’ve heard very different reports about their taste – varying from delicious to inedible ! We’re hoping it’s the former, and I’m assured that eating them is all about the preparation – that they need to be sliced thinly and are delicious in stir fries and salads – although time will tell. So far so good though, and these little seedlings are so lovely to look at with their sweet little teardrop shaped leaves. When they’re larger they have beautiful red flowers, so even if they don’t taste so good at least they’ll hopefully look ornamental on the allotment.

  1. I grew asparagus peas last year and to be honest, I didn’t like them. You don’t get a huge harvest from them but they look fantastic when they grow. They have amazing red flowers and these are displayed for many months. They wouldn’t look out of place in any flower border.

    1. Thanks for your comment – time will tell on the taste test, but I’ll be happy with the flowers if they really do taste horrible !
